Our Work in the Field: Pennsylvania

NCIL staff and expert coaches are working with several state education agencies and the local education agencies they identify to provide intensive technical assistance.

Our work with Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) focuses on the implementation of a high-quality, effective model focused on using Response to Intervention (RTI) within the context of multi-tiered systems of support in reading (MTSS-R). Work in Pennsylvania also emphasizes support of PaTTAN’s Enhancing Early Reading Outcomes professional development series and includes documentation of effective use of in-person and remote learning for Tier 1 and Tier 2 instruction. In support of PaTTAN’s longstanding MTSS work, sustainability of systems-level implementation is highlighted.

Our Goals

• Use of Response to Intervention in reading to determine special education eligibility for specific learning disabilities (SLD) in those schools that use a multi-tiered systems of support approach.
• Documentation of effective in-person and remote learning within the context of multi-tiered systems of support.
• Support of sustainability of systems-level implementation.
